Blue Jays Finish at New England Meet

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Verm. (Feb. 19, 2011) -- Saint Joseph College sophomore Shannon Dunn (Litchfield, Conn.) had the school's top individual finisher for the meet Sunday when she placed 12th in the 50-yard backstroke at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. 

Dunn finished in 30.23 seconds while teammate Amy Poulton (West Hartford, Conn.) was 15th in the same race in 30.58. In all, five individuals and four relay teams earned points for Saint Joseph in the annual three-day meet.  

The 400 freestyle relay team of Sarah Chepeleff (Vernon, Conn.), Jessica Gale (East Hartford, Conn.), Mary Provencher (West Hartford, Conn.) and Dunn finished 17th in their event. 

Earlier in the weekend, the 200 medley relay team (Dunn, Provencher, Gale and Chepeleff) and the 200 freestlyle relay team (Gale, Chepeleff, Provencher and Dunn) broke school records. Saint Joseph swimmers set 25 personal bests during the weekend. 

The Blue Jays finished 19th in the team standings and 16th among Divsion III teams. The meet concluded the 2011-12 season.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Verm. (Feb. 18, 2011) -- Saint Joseph College sophomore Jessica Gale (East Hartford, Conn.) was the top individual Blue Jay finisher Saturday when she placed 17th in the 50-yard butterfly at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. 

Gale timed in at 28.71 seconds and was one of three Saint Joseph swimmers to earn points in individual events. Sarah Chepeleff (Vernon, Conn.) finished 22nd in the 100 backstroke (1:05.77) and Mary Provencher (West Hartford, Conn.) was 24th in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.95).

The top Saint Joseph finish of the day, however, was turned in by the 200 medley relay team, as Gale, Chepeleff, Provencher and Amy Poulton (West Hartford, Conn.) teamed to finish 13th. The 800 freestyle relay team of Michelle DiPinto (Burlington, Conn.), Amanda Willhoft (Manchester, Conn.), Adrianna Chorzepa (Newington, Conn.) and Ashleigh Beaudoin (Dedham, Mass.) also earned points with a 20th place finish. 

Saint Joseph remained 20th in the team standings through Saturday. The meet concludes Sunday.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Verm. (Feb. 17, 2011) -- The Saint Joseph College 200-yard freestyle relay team earned a 12th place finish Friday at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. 

Sarah Chepeleff (Vernon, Conn.), Jessica Gale (East Hartford, Conn.), Mary Provencher (West Hartford, Conn.) and Shannon Dunn (Litchfield, Conn.) combined to complete the event in 1 minutes, 46.8 seconds in the final round, bettering their qualifying time of 1:48.44 in the preliminaries, earlier in the day.

Provencher also scored in the 50 breaststroke, finishing 21st in a time of 35.09.

Saint Joseph College is in 20th place after the first of three days of competition. The meet continues Saturday and Sunday.
